An old-fashioned independent horror film featuring an all-black cast, Son Of Ingagi is as fun a monster movie as it is a unique slice of black cinema history. Unlike the black horror exploitation films of the seventies like Blacula, Son Of Ingagi places no emphasis on race issues and offers few stereotypical characterizations. Actor Spencer Williams, Jr. (Andy of TV's "Amos 'n Andy") also wrote the story. The title is derived from an unrelated horror film made several years earlier. Co-star Laura Bowman, an accomplished singer and actress, was a member of New York's first black theater company.

A huge, horrifying ape creature is hidden in the laboratory of a sinister old house. The monster is the creation of Dr. Helen Jackson, a scientist who dabbles in the world of black magic and mysticism. Jackson experiments with a strange potion that transforms the beast-man into a maniacal, uncontrolled killer. Two newlyweds, who are guests in the doctor's home, are soon trapped by the hideous creature. With the help of the local police, they must find a way to escape from the chamber of horrors before they become victims of the monster's murderous claws.
