Mr. Lobo's Cinema Insomnia: Voyage To The Prehistoric Planet (MOD) (DVD MOVIE)
In the tradition of classic shows like Chiller Theatre and Creature Features, Cinema Insomnia features horror host Mr. Lobo in brief vignettes between segments of the late night movie. Various odd characters have accompanied him during the show's 18-year run -- including a houseplant named Miss Mittens, and Francois Fly, a stand-up comedian fused with a common housefly. Also appearing in the breaks are satirical commercials (like one for "Rad Abrams: Skateboard Attorney"), old movie trailers, classic commercials and interviews shot at horror/sci-fi conventions up and down the eastern and western seaboard. "They're Not Bad Movies...Just Misunderstood!"
Ready yourself for blast off with Mr. Lobo as we journey to the planet Venus...and a time when we still thought it was possible to live there. Exploitation maestro Roger Corman and director Curtis Harrington (Night Tide) took an obscure Russian science fiction movie, Planeta Blur, re-edited it, and added extra footage of Basil Rathbone and Faith Domergue to make Voyage To The Prehistoric Planet. The results aren't always coherent, but it has a great robot and a flying car! As usual, Mr. Lobo keeps things lively with late-night TV fun, sci-fi movie trailers, retro clips, drive-in snackbar ads, and special comedy guest Dave Atell.
