Joseph Rearden is British Intelligence's man on the inside. It's his job to become what he isn't -- even a thief and convict -- to convince the group he infiltrates that he's one of them. Paul Newman is Rearden in this tense and tricky thriller, directed by the legendary John Huston from a screenplay by Walter Hill (48 HRS.) and superbly cast with sterling talent that includes Dominique Sanda, Harry Andrews and Ian Bannen. James Mason (Newman's adversary in The Verdict) plays a member of Parliament who's really a master spy hiding behind law-and-order speeches -- and the focus of Rearden's assignment.
