I Live on Danger's leading man, Chester Morris, began his career on the Broadway stage at age 17. With his square-jawed good looks, Hollywood soon came calling, and he starred in popular pre-Code films such as The Big House (1930), The Bat Whispers (1930) and Red-Headed Woman (1932). After a successful run playing the title role in Columbia's "Boston Blackie" series, his career took a downturn into B-movie fare such as The She-Creature (1957). However, he would draw great acclaim for his final role as James Earl Jones' mentor in The Great White Hope (1970). Lovely Jean Parker appeared in 70 films in her over 40-year career, including the role of Beth in George Cukor's Little Women (1933) and opposite Laurel and Hardy in The Flying Deuces (1939). Two years after I Live on Danger, athletic supporting player Dick Purcell would become the star of Republic's chapter play Captain America (1944).
