Based on a true story and laced with comedy and violence, Guns of the Revolution boasts a fine performance by Ernest Borgnine as the General. Director Arthur Lubin helmed the Abbott and Costello classics of the 40s such as Buck Privates (1941) and Hold that Ghost (1941). Some of his most notable film work includes Black Friday (1940), The Phantom Of The Opera (1943), Ali Baba And The 40 Thieves (1943) and Francis The Talking Mule (1949), a concept which easily translated to TV when he directed "Mr. Ed" in the 60s.

Padre Miguel Pro must run for his life as "the General's" death squads spread terror throughout Mexico, burning churches and shooting priests in cold blood. But when the dictator reads a American newspaper story about the defiant priest, he commits his entire army to the renegade's immediate capture and execution.
