The supernatural thriller Eight Immortals cinematizes an ancient and widely-held myth in Chinese culture - dating back to the 10th century - that speaks of an octet of spiritual warriors, eternally immune to death. All have avowed to fight for the good and benefit of mankind, and stand opposed to evil. As the story opens, the warriors learn that a band of demons led by a bloodthirsty vampire is devouring innocent peasants. The Eight thus lead a band of renegade heroes to put an end to thisterror, slaying every demon in sight, and subsequently embark on a full-scale netherworld invasion, launching an apocalyptic war of good vs. evil.
