Journeyman director Albert Herman is probably best known for directing many Tex Ritter westerns including Down The Wyoming Trail (1939), Pals Of The Silver Sage (1940) and Rolling Home To Texas (1940). Comedic actor "Fuzzy" Knight won fame appearing with Mae West in She Done Him Wrong (1933) and My Little Chickadee (1940) but is probably best remembered as the zany sidekick in numerous Johnny Mack Brown westerns of the 1940s. His career got a late boost in 1955 when he appeared with Buster Crabbe on the classic television series "Captain Gallant of The Foreign Legion."

A black cat crosses Captain Matthew's path as he goes to collect his $40,000 fee after delivering a load of silk to port. The shipper, Nick Conrad, lures him to his Green Eagle night club where he pays him in cash, and then has one of his armed goons "rob" him. Reporter Jerry Mason witnesses the scam, jumps the thief and steals the money back. He manages to escape and hide the loot. Realizing he is being tailed by Conrad's trigger-happy gunmen, Jerry must figure out a way to survive and return the cash to its rightful owner.
