Sam Wilton shoots his lover's irate husband and needs to get out of South America in a hurry. He acquires a stolen passport and passage on the Banos, a tramp freighter set to sail for the States under the command of it's notorious skipper, "Captain Scarface." What Wilton has no way of knowing is that Scarface and his cutthroat crew of communist saboteurs have an atom bomb loaded aboard. They have sworn "...to be blown to eternity together!..." as they destroy the Panama Canal and throw the economy of the free world into chaos!
Captain Scarface presents suicide bombers on a terrorist mission to destabilize America - a theme which is remarkably current a half century later. Barton MacLane had a long and stellar career as a character actor which included roles in the classics High Sierra (1941), The Maltese Falcon (1941) and The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre (1948} as well as such memorable "B films" as The Mummy's Ghost (1944) and Unknown Island (1948).
