Hitchhiking Sergeant Robert Gray falls hard for Peggy, the pretty blonde who gives him a lift back to the base. His thoughts of romance are derailed when his buddies inform him that she is none other than General Markley's daughter. In a fit of overconfidence, Gray bets the guys that before the week is through he will be invited to breakfast with the General. He will have to overcome long odds, disapproving officers and a gang of spies to win the bet and a shot at Peggy's affections.
This fine Grand National musical comedy features some real sexual chemistry between handsome leading man James Ellison and lovely Terry Walker. Ellison had roles in almost seventy films between 1932 and 1962, most notably as Buffalo Bill in Cecil B. DeMille's The Plainsman (1936). Character actor Ward Bond and Arthur Lake (Dagwood in the Blondie series) appear in supporting roles.
