Raymond Massey ignites the screen as famed abolitionist John Brown in this action-packed historical drama costarring Debra Paget and Jeffrey Hunter. "Kansas shall be free!" So proclaims John Brown (Massey), whose fiery fanaticism in cites his six sons and followers to murder pro-slavers so the state can enter the Union slavery-free. Vowing to continue the right, Brown heads to Harpers Ferry, Virginia, where he and son Owen (Hunter) launch a slave revolt that will end in either infamy or glory. Also starring Dennis Weaver and Guy Williams as two of his sons, Seven Angry Men marked Massey's third portrayal of Brown, beginning with the film Santa Fe Trail (1940) and followed by John Brown's Body (1953), an acclaimed Broadway reading of Steven Vincent Benet's poem, directed by Charles Laughton.
