Devil Times Five (1974): On an icy California road, a speeding transport van crashes down a hillside. Five survivors, children, climb out and trek to a secluded mansion where a ruthless businessman is convening with family and associates. Psychotics from a mental hospital, the kids proceed to put the "dead" in dead of winter, murdering their hosts one by one. This nasty piece of '70s shock cinema was kept out of general release in Chicago by the city's police department! Starring Sorrell Booke, Gene Evans, Taylor Lacher, Shelley Morrison and Leif Garrett. Directed by Sean MacGregor. All The Kind Strangers (1974): Photojournalist Jimmy Wheeler, driving through the Appalachian backwoods, finds himself stranded in a secluded house where a brood of orphaned kids forcibly "adopt" him, call him "Pa" and sink his car in a creek to prevent his leaving. He and another prisoner, Carol Ann are kept hostage by loaded shotguns. And if Jimmy and Carol Ann do not work out as parents, the kids will see to it that their corpses are disposed of in the creek, just like all the others before them! Starring Stacy Keach, Samantha Eggar, John Savage, Robby Benson and Arlene Farber. Directed by Burt Kennedy.
