Coming across a village where natives have attacked a mission, they rescue sole survivor Erica Neuler (Taina Elg), who joins them on the quest. Continuing their grueling trek, the trio braves animal stampedes, fever and pygmy traps as they make their way to the fabled mines, where greater dangers await them. The final film directed by Kurt Neumann, Watusi was one of the first screenplays written by James Clavell, who would go on to cowrite The Great Escape, direct To Sir, With Love and pen the best-selling novel Shogun.
