Considered the best of the many Laurel and Hardy films, JITTERBUGS finds the legendary comic duo fronting the traveling Laurel and Hardy Zoot Suit Band. In their travels, they find themselves taking a young woman, Susan (Vivian Blaine), under their wing when she relates how she and her mother have been scammed out of their savings by the dastardly Bennett (Douglas Fowley). Laurel and Hardy come up with an elaborate sting to get Susan's money back and exact a much-needed comeuppance for the evil Bennett. Hardy passes himself off as a southern gentleman, while Laurel dons women's clothes as Susan's frowsy aunt. As one might expect, things don't go exactly as planned, involving a chase through and around a New Orleans riverboat.
